A NIGHT OF A MILLION LAUGHS

On Sept. 7th, Nollywood actors and comedians rallied together in celebration of "A Night of A Million Laughs." Pictured above is the aspiring Igbo Christian music singer Lady Gold and actor Bethels Agomuoh.

Michael Blackman of Ghana came through with his African bling! That's his girl in the background. Him being there cause some serious hoopla. Everyone tried to squeeze into every picture he took that night.

The stand-up acts were hilarious. Here is Michael Blackson and Lady Gold.

"A Night of A Million Laughs" bought out many high profile Nollywood actors and comedians at New York City's own St. Anthony of Padua Hall in Queens.

Michael Blackson rode into the event flaunting his silver Benz and African model girlfriend. Right after he did his skit (non-stop jokes), he got up and left the venue. Before he made a grand exit, I squeezed in with Lady Gold to talk a picture with him.

Sir Citor and Oliver Mbamara of "This America" was there.

Oliver Mbamara is also the director of the film, "Slave Warrior."

Betherls Agomuoh, CEO of AFRICAMOVIES.COM, served as the event's MC.

Sir Citor and Uche Ugbuagu after the event.

Sir Citor now is producing Lady Gold's music which is expect to come out later on this year.

Kanayo O. Kanayo, Uche "Talkingson" Ogbuagu, and Away Away on stage answering questions for their fans:

Talkingson sold his stand-up comedy album which is a must-have for all fans of his work. Uche later on explained to the crowd he was the first to launch comedy in Nigeria.

Away Away now carries the torch for many talented Nigerian comedians here in America.

Kanayo O Kanayo talked briefly about how fans will film a movie he's working on and sell it the same day on the street.

Sir Citor and Lady Gold of Golden Studio Inc; with Kanayo O Kanayo. Thanks Golden Studio Inc., AfricaMovies, and AfricanEvents for the invite!

LIYA & IMAN AT BRYANT PARK

Liya Kebede, Iman, Bethann Hardison and Naomi Campbell attended the post-Fashion week panel discussion on the lack of black images in today's fashion outlets.

The Somalian beauty and Ethopian model hit up the event in high style. Iman rock a gray form-fitting dress with pair of Dorothy-like heels while Liya went for a youthful look in a cream color top and black skirt. Their model counterpart Naomi flaunted her green croc-skinned Hermes Birkin.

At the Bryant Park Hotel in New York City, Iman and Liya spoke up to support the Blacks in Fashion: A Panel Discussion on the Lack of Black Images in Today's Fashion Output event.

About the new layout:
I got an e-mail from one of my readers letting me know this site crashed so I had to start from scratch re-building the layout. Although the old layout was hip, isn't change always for the better? Thanks Wienna!

INTRODUCING JACKIE APPIAH

This past Labor Day weekend for me was spent catching up on Nigerian/Ghanaian films*. One highlight from watching "Princess Tyra" and "Mummy's Daughter" was upcoming actress Jackie A. Appiah.

Appiah, born on December 5th, 1983, has appeared in "President's Daughter, Beyonce", "The Return of Beyonce", "Divine Love", "Mummy's Daughter", "Princess Tyra" and "Royal Battle."

Going back to "Mummy's Daughter", Jackie's acting skills seem polished and professional against current favorite Van Vicker. Simply put, when Jackie cries on camera or when she gets slapped here and there, the audience feels sympathy for her.

Here's Jackie's take on "Mummy's Daughter": “In my current movie I’m playing twins,” she says. “One has a way of speaking royally and the other is funky. It sometimes it gets confusing when you have to speak this way or that way and all together I have 74 scenes.”

Click on the image below of Jackie and Van Vicker to see a clip from "Mummy's Daughter":

Dare I call Miss Appiah Ghana's take of Nigeria's Genevieve Nnaji? Well Jackie HAS won an prestigious award straight out of Nigeria recently.

On winning the Nigerian movie award: “I feel very privileged that I got the (Nigerian) award and it’s given me courage that Ghanaian movies will go far,” she says. But she concedes that she still has a long way to go. “I’m still learning, I need to watch more movies to improve upon my acting, read more books…go to acting school and learn some new techniques.”

Unfortunately for her male fans, Jackie A. Appiah is a married woman. She now goes by Mrs. Jackie Agyemang. The young talented actress has a son named Damian.

{Nadia Buari, Van Vicker and Jackie are Ghana's leading actors.}

GODFREY GETS HEATED

TMZ posted up this :59 clip of comedian Godfrey arguing outside of Laugh Factory over a girl.

7-Up's old front man, comedian Godfrey Danchimah, was confronted outside the Laugh Factory last night, but it was no laughing matter!

The green comedian had been spittin' game to a girl who claimed to be single -- then her boyfriend showed up! He started talkin' smack to Godfrey -- who wasn't in the mood to take any crap -- and called the guy a "corny ass, West Coast, L.A., shiny shoe wearin', tight jean mother ..." And that was the end of that!

Godfrey took one more shot, saying, "I like ass like everybody else does, but you know what, it's not that serious." 7-Up yours!

Click here to watch the clip. Admit you thought this was an act, right?

Visit his official website for more info on his comedy shows. On his site, Godfrey breaks down the dynamics of all things Igbo. Hit up his official myspace to keep up on his DVD release.

He has two films out this year called, "A Dennis the Menace Christmas" and "Don't Shoot the Pharmacist!"
